It is now 6:40 am, and my blood is pumping, my heart is racing, and I'm wide awake. The reason? I just got home from screening The Expendables 2.
There have been a lot of movies recently that Hollywood would have you believe are action movies: Battleship, any of the Transformers franchise, the Mission: Impossible films, Snow White and the Huntsman... but if you're a fan of the genre, you know these don't count. If you're a fan, you expect certain things from an action movie: big guns, explosions, hand-to-hand combat, male bonding, a great villain, and cheesy one liners. The Expendables 2 has all of these, and it is glorious! Where the first film took itself a little too seriously, the sequel is pure, testosterone driven fun. Quite simply, The Expendables 2 is everything I could ever want from a movie.
Is The Expendables 2 Badass? It is one of the most Badass films I have ever seen.
