Iron Man 3 is a damn good comic book movie, and possibly one of the best. But that's not why I enjoyed it. I liked it because it wasn't The Avengers Part 2. It is very much, as a friend of mine put it, "Tony Stark Part 3". In true sequel fashion, Stark has everything taken away from him so that he can learn what kind of person he really is. And that person is equal parts genius inventor, wise ass, and a weird mix of James Bond and Batman. Yes, you read that right. For much of the movie Stark is without his armor and is forced to improvise with what he has on hand. The result is a little terrifying. Don't get me wrong, there are some really great action scenes featuring the Iron Man armor, but I was more interested in what Stark was capable of without it. In Commando, you know things are about to get serious when Matrix clears out the surplus store. Now imagine Tony Stark, the man who built a suit of weaponized armor in a cave, walking into a hardware store....
